WHAT IT DOES
One source image, every favicon file a site actually needs.
Choose a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or validated SVG and build a local package containing a multi-size ICO, browser PNGs, an Apple touch icon, Android icons, a web manifest, and matching link markup. Contain keeps the whole source with transparent padding; Crop to cover fills each square and trims the edges.
Why use it?
Use it to produce the related icon sizes and HTML references a website needs from one source image.
How to use this tool
- Choose an image or self-contained SVG with enough detail for the largest output.
- Choose Contain to keep the full design or Crop to cover to fill the square. Inspect how the design reads at the smallest icon sizes.
- Build the package, then download and review its icons, manifest, and HTML fragment.
- Place the files at your chosen public paths and adjust the references accordingly. The download does not update a website or invalidate an already cached favicon.
Details and limitations
- favicon.ico contains separate 16, 32, and 48 pixel PNG images in a standard ICO directory instead of a renamed single PNG.
- The ZIP also includes 16 and 32 pixel browser icons, a 180 pixel Apple touch icon, 192 and 512 pixel web-app icons, site.webmanifest, and a matching HTML fragment.
- Every size is rendered independently from the decoded source so the browser does not repeatedly scale an already reduced icon. Transparent pixels are preserved.
- The package is assembled with a deterministic local ZIP writer and can be reviewed before either the ICO or full archive is downloaded.
