WHAT IT DOES

Make source code ready to share.

Paste your own code and turn it into a styled snippet card for documentation, issues, presentations, or social posts. The preview updates locally, and JPG or standalone HTML exports contain the displayed source without executing it.

Why use it?

Use it to make a legible code illustration for documentation or a discussion when a screenshot of an editor would include distracting chrome.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste the code and select its language for highlighting.
  2. Set the title, appearance, spacing, and aspect while checking that the full snippet fits. Remove credentials and private paths before export.
  3. Download JPG for an image or HTML for the styled document. Include accessible source text alongside an image when readers need to copy or search the code.

Details and limitations

  • Choose a language, curated visual preset, title, type scale, spacing, line numbers, window controls, background, corners, and an image aspect.
  • JPG export draws only the snippet card on a local canvas, with dimensions from the selected Auto, Square, Landscape, Social, or Portrait preset.
  • The HTML export is self-contained: its CSS and syntax markup travel with the file, with no CDN, server renderer, or Tool4 runtime required.
  • Source is treated as display text throughout. Script-looking code is escaped by the local highlighter and never inserted as executable page markup.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Snippet Image questions

Does the JPG capture the whole Tool4 page?
No. The export draws a dedicated snippet card on a local canvas, so the site header, controls, and browser chrome are not included.
Can pasted HTML or JavaScript execute in the export?
No. It is escaped as code text in both the preview and standalone HTML. The export contains highlighting markup, not a copy of the source as executable HTML or script.
